You login to AIX

• from MVS

  using the FOPI command

  telaix <node>

• from ULTRIX

  using the FOPI command

  telaix <node>

  Currently you cannot use the arrow keys for line editing on the shell level. Instead you use
  • CTRL-P to get the previous command,
  • CTRL-N to get the next command,
  • CTRL-F to step forward in a command line,
  • CTRL-B to step backward in a command line.
  Using the SMIT tool requires

  export TERM=vt100

• from VMS

  with

  telnet <node>

Your login profile (.profile) should contain the two lines

. /u/fopi/ulib/cmsdefs.sh  # mind the period at the beginning !
. /u/fopi/flib/cmsdefs.sh  # mind the period at the beginning !

in order to provide some useful environment variable settings. If you are not satisfied with the definitions made therein, you may change them later in your .profile. In addition, you should copy the file $FOPI/.Xdefaults to get a reasonable defaults setting for your XWindows environment.
