VAX/VMS UNIX

 

• via VAX FTP. It differs strongly from UNIX FTP. A more UNIX-like FTP you get after redefinition:

  FTP :== $ucx$ftp/ultrix

  Then type

  FTP <unix-node>

  You are prompted for account and password, then type:

  put  <vaxfile> <unixfile>
  get  <unixfile> <vaxfile>

  Note that VAX FTP converts file names to uppercase, while in UNIX lower case is recommended. You can protect the name from type conversion:

  put  <vaxfile> "<unixfile>"
  get  "<unixfile>" <vaxfile>
  quit
